Serve Locally At Westminster

Par Garden

The PAR in Westminster’s PAR Garden is an acronym for “Plant A Row – PAR – for the local poor.” The goal of the PAR Garden is to embody Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 25:36, “For I was hungry and you gave me food…” Each year, our physical goal is to harvest a minimum of 1000 pounds of fresh vegetables! – organically grown – that we donate to 15 disadvantaged local families and two busy local food pantries. A further aim is to develop a stronger relationship between church communities, the neighborhood, and garden volunteers in Christ’s love. If you would like to volunteer for this important purpose-driven ministry, please email the Community PAR Garden Committee at wpcpargarden@gmail.com or call 732.671.2585 Consider working a garden plot, joining the committee, or just lending a helping hand as needed!

How It Works

Please download an application by clicking here or pick up an application from inside the church vestibule or from the garden shed during garden hours. Submit by mail or drop off at the Community PAR Garden Mailbox in the church vestibule.

Field Of Flags

WPC Field

The Westminster Field of Flags was established by church members and friends from the community in honor of the veterans who served in the United States military and lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. Each year during the wars, one flag was placed on our Great Lawn in memory of every soldier who died in the Iraq and Afghanistan, creating a patriotic and deeply moving memorial field that has touched the heart of our community.

In 2022, WPC installed and dedicated the Field of Flags to honor the fallen and veterans of the Vietnam War.

In 2023 we will plant 5,000 flags to honor veterans from every branch who served in every war and conflict in US Military history.

Volunteers from the community are warmly welcomed and encouraged to help install the Field of Flags.

Deacon’s Pantry

lunch

The Deacons at Westminster maintain a food pantry for the hungry and needy. Non-perishable items are collected year round to stock the pantry. Collected goods are used to feed anyone in need.

Additionally, the Deacon’s solicit donations to feed five local families at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

If you or someone you know is in need, please contact the church office by calling 732.671.2585.

Monmouth Medical Family Clinic Christmas Party

The Monmouth Medical Christmas Party is one of Westminster’s most heartwarming and labor intensive events of the year. For the past 17 years, Westminster members and friends donate, wrap, and present over 400 beautifully wrapped Christmas presents to the families of clients who receive the services offered by the Family Clinic.
In addition to donating and wrapping the presents, dozens of Westminster volunteers present the presents to the largely Hispanic clientele. The event brightens Christmas for those who receive the presents, but an even greater joy and satisfaction is given to those who participate in the event. Volunteers consider it one of the highlights of their Christmas season.
