About Us

Who We Are

Westminster Presbyterian Church in Middletown, NJ is a vibrant Christian congregation guided by the Holy Spirit. In partnership with God, we are engaged in the work of transforming people in the light of the good news of Jesus Christ. We exist to make disciples of Jesus by leading individuals and families to come to know God, to develop a spiritual life, and to find meaning and healing in a community of acceptance.

Our Team

Erika Sayar, Director of Music

Erika is our organist, pianist, choir director, and music event coordinator. She is an accomplished musician and a professionally trained violin maker and restorer with a busy shop in Allenwood. She teaches and plays in various concerts in the area but her heart for worship is evident at Westminster. Erika strongly believes traditional music is both a means to give praise to our Lord and a bridge to bring us closer to Him. She happily encourages us to sing, to listen, and to experience Christian music, both new and old, as a way to strengthen our faith.

Amanda Malone, Administrative Assistant

Administrative Assistant, Amanda Malone, is originally from Brooklyn, but has been a Middletown resident for many years now. Amanda and her husband have two young children and she loves spending as much time with them as she can. Here at WPC, she is part of the backbone of the church and the "voice on the phone." She loves people and is always there to answer your questions and help whenever needed.

Stacy McGann, Nature Preschool Co-Director

Stacy has an AA in Liberal Arts from Endicott College and a BS in Human Services from Elmire College. Stacy is the Director of Operations at Westminster Nature Preschool and is also an Elder here at WPC. She has served as a Sunday school teacher for over 15 years. Stacy has 4 children and enjoys cooking, reading, and hiking. She believes that connecting with nature is integral to real learning and well-being.

Commonly Asked Questions

Westminster is in transition at present. Reverend Dr. Robert Morrison served a one year term as Interim Pastor. The church is schedule to begin a Pastor search this fall.

We believe true, heartfelt worship should lead to an encounter with God. Worship is not an entertainment event, but something for everybody in the community to participate in. We have one service on Sunday morning that blends both traditional and contemporary hymns. Our music program features a variety of guest soloists and musicians.

We serve Communion the first Sunday of each month. If you believe that Jesus is your personal Savior, you are welcome to participate—regardless of whether you are a member or regular attender of Westminster.

Sunday school is available for children and teenagers in grades K-12.

The church staffs and maintains a nursery for pre-school aged children every Sunday.

The church believes families should worship together and participate in Holy Communion. Therefore Sunday school does not meet on the first Sunday of every month to allow families to worship together and receive Holy Communion. Children who have not yet received communion instruction may come forward for a blessing.

We have a passion for prayer at Westminster. We have a prayer team that springs into action with each request for prayer. We encourage anyone in need of prayer to join the Praise & Prayer service in Harlan Hall on the first Sunday each month.

Baptism for children and adults are scheduled with the pastor after the individual or family meets for instruction about baptism in the pastor’s office.
Lots of parking is available behind the Sanctuary in our newly paved parking lot. Handicapped parking is also available.

Before the service, check out the worship bulletin to see what’s going on at Westminster.

On Sundays after worship, join us for fellowship in Harlan Hall for some refreshments, while making new friends.

Spend some time walking around our campus. You’ll get to meet some great people, and get a feel for what’s going on at Westminster.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you can think of. We’re here to bless you and to help you feel at home.

What We Believe

God

We believe there is only one living and true God – perfect, infinite, and eternal.

Jesus

We believe that God became fully human in the person of Jesus, who came to save, reconcile, and restore an intimate relationship between God and humanity.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and that he empowers us for life and service.

Heaven

We believe that the souls of the faithful are reunited with God in a warm and loving relationship.

Sacraments

We believe that both Baptism and Holy Communion are visible signs of God’s grace in which our faith is nourished and strengthened.

Humanity

We believe that God created the great human family on earth in love and to live in an intimate relationship with each of us. But because of sin, our relationship to God has been compromised, and humanity has become alienated from God. We believe that forgiveness of sin has been made possible by the crucifixion of Jesus.

The Church

We believe that the church is universal the body of Christ which offers a new beginning for Individuals and families; where sin is forgiven and reconciliation with God is accomplished.
